This open printing session is designed for anyone who has beginner-intermediate level experience in mokuhanga woodblock printing and would like to spend more time perfecting their printing abilities. Designed as an open studio session with individualized instruction, this workshop allows students to access space, tools, materials, and technical guidance on all aspects of printing. Students must bring a completed woodblock that has already been carved to the workshop, where they will have access to a pre-made damp pack with kozo washi, pigment, studio brushes, and barens. Beginner-level experience is necessary.

Materials fee: $15

Materials Included: 
  • 10 sheets of 8" x 10" kozo paper prepped in a damp pack
  • Akua pigment paste
  • Newsprint for proofing
  • Nori for printing
  • Use of studio tools: barens, carving tools, surikome & maru bake printing brushes
