In this workshop, we will spend the day creating water-based monotypes. The process involves painting or drawing onto a plexiglass sheet and transferring the image onto paper using an etching press. This printmaking process results in unique prints that cannot be replicated.

I will share tips and tricks to achieve beautiful and vibrant monotypes. We will begin the class with quick experiments to showcase the varied visual possibilities of the medium. Participants will spend most of the day working on their own designs. They can treat the day as a time for experimentation or come with a planned project.

Class fee: $265
As part of this partnership, a portion of the proceeds from the workshop will benefit the ICA San José.

Morgann Trumbull Projects is a Bay Area-based artist-centric contemporary art platform, nomadic gallery, and edition publisher, dedicated to placing artists first. Through close collaboration with artists, print presses, fabricators, and creatives, MTP aims to advance and enhance artists’ careers through opportunities to work outside their usual medium, practice, and scope, as well as to provide new exposure and critical attention. MTP is pleased to have our second pop-up in the heart of San José’s SoFA neighborhood and art scene, where we look forward to actively participating in the community through gallery hours and in partnership with neighboring institutions’ after-hours events.
